Pop–up Urban Physic Garden

Have you ever noticed how many neglected pieces of land there are in London – even in central parts of London?  The Urban Physic Garden takes over one of those sites and sets an example of how the city spaces can easily be transformed yet provide attractive, interactive green habitat for all city dwellers!!!

The Urban Physic Garden is following last year project Union Street Urban Orchard and both were set up by Wayward Plants. The garden is interestingly divided into ‘wards’ analogous to hospital setting. Just to name few there is Cardiology, Dermatology, Respiratory and even Operating theatre. In each ward specific plants and herbs are grown. The individual garden wards explain the way in which plants are used in medicine and mainly show what  specific plants and herbs are used.

Illustration by Alison MoffettSalvaged and re-used materials are creatively put together and add another interesting element to the whole concept of this garden. Perhaps the most intriguing objects I have found were plants growing in mobile planters that allow visitors to ‘take the plants for a walk’ !!! Make sure you visit this amazing place before the August the 15th as this is the last day of the existence of this temporary garden !!!
