What is happening at Southbank?

If you walk along the south bank of the river Thames you will discover a number of interesting places. Due to the 60th anniversary celebration for the Festival of Britain the south bank area has been transformed into an exciting place that evokes relaxing feel of holidays.
Urban beach – a 70-metre strip of golden sand offers place not only for children to play but also relaxing space for adults. On the other hand if someone is not keen on getting sand in their shoes Queen Elizabeth Roof Garden is a great alternative. The Roof Garden has number of raised vegetable beds, fruit trees, herbs and even a grass patch!!!

Also, halfway between the sandy Urban Beach and the Roof Garden at the terrace of Southbank Centre – Queen Elizabeth Hall is rather interesting and unusual Dishroom Chowpatty Pop Up Beach Bar. The place offers tasty Bombay food and once the bar is entered one feels really like being on an exotic holiday. Clever use of recycled materials such as barrels for stools, reclaimed railway sleepers for benches, rolled newspapers for walls, recycled bottles for bar panels and of course very visible outside pallets, which were painted in bright orange colour can all be explored.

The Festival of Britain is held at Southbank until the October the 4th and is definitely worthwhile visiting !!! Find out more about the events such as The London Honey Festival or soon coming Vintage Festival taking place during  the summer at Soutbank here.
